1996: I'd just
finished a decade in a corporate communications
environment - where expectations for quality,
service, and teamwork were taken seriously.
This was the birthplace of my professional
life, and it set my standards high.
Now in new surroundings, I noticed many
smaller businesses who couldn't afford to
hire big marketing and communications firms.
Not surprising. It was surprising, though,
how many of these businesspeople were putting
up with weak product and poor service from
"affordable" freelancers.
I thought: just because these organizations
have limited budgets, they don't deserve
junk product, unmet requirements, missed
deadlines and details, and unreturned phone
calls. I knew there must be a way to provide
high-quality service and product for a reasonable
price. I was right.
Of course we must be financially viable,
but that's not Lexnight's sole focus. We
strive to be a sustainable business,
and there's high value in a job well done
and a good reputation. And it's always so
enjoyable and educational to work with interesting
people in so many varied lines of work.
Although à la carte services for
larger organizations have since been added,
this history and philosophy are still what
Lexnight is about.
